The Grand Mayan met all of our expectations and more. The rooms were spacious and clean, and we took advantage of the kitchen. All employees were friendly and helpful. Our tour guide Roberto Alarcon Tours also made our week very special.
If you need a tour guide that is always smiling, trustworthy, and knowledgeable, then I would highly recommend Roberto Alarcon. He will customize each tour to your expectations and treat you like family. I can not recommend him enough.
We had a great week at the Grand Mayan in Acapulco! One thing to note is that Acapulco is mostly tourists coming in from Mexico City and very few Americans – however, we felt welcomed and very safe our entire visit! The locals and visitors were very kind! Francisco at the pool and Francisco at Cafe Del Lago are top notch!
The employees speak little to no English – there were a small few. This Vedanta Resort does not have as many open restaurants as some of the other Vidanta resorts as the culture is to go into Acapulco for dinner each night. The resort is fantastic as most Vidanta resorts are!
Now, the best part of our trip was Roberto Alarcon who picked us up from the airport – and took us into Acapulco for the day midweek after we arrived – he speaks fluent English and knows EVERYTHING about Acapulco. Also, Acapulco is a VERY SAFE city for Americans.. at no time did we feel unsafe – especially with Roberto – TOP NOTCH service with the incredible work ethic and integrity! Google Roberto Alarcon tours and you will find his info and also we heard about some snuba cozumel tours in Mexico. We emailed him to figure out how to get picked up at the airport, and he shortly responded and was waiting for us with a sign at the Acapulco airport after we deplaned from Houston, you must go with Roberto!
Once we got to know him, we requested him every time. We visited a place where they make authentic silver jewelry and had a replica of a silver mine built underneath. After our ATV and Lagoon tour, Baldo took us to a local restaurant where the sweet family cooked us delicious and traditional food. All in all, my family and I enjoyed our time in Acapulco and would love to go back.
